Hi, I’m enrolling my child for Primary 6 in Mavis Kovan. Do you know of any good tutor in all subject at Kovan Centre for Primary 6? Or is it better to enrol my child in other branches? Eg. Sengkang, Hougang,…? I’m staying at Hougang. Critical year for my boys. Thanks for your help.

My boy is in P5 this year. He has been attending lessons at Mavis Rivervale Plaza since P3. there are many good teachers there. My boy did very well in his study & he enjoys attending lessons there. But the class size is big, so I don’t recommend it to very weak students, especially for Maths. Their science lessons are rather interesting & they even do experiments. Btw, his Science teacher is Mr Muz.

Mr Muz who teaches science at Mavis Rivervale is a gem. My son enjoys his teaching. Hope he will benefit from Mr Muz’s teachings and does well in his PSLE this year :)

I would strongly recommend Mavis Science lesson with Mr Muz :)

I strongly discourage sending your children to Mavis! I am not kidding. Their worksheets , teachers are all way below par, they employ young and unqualified teachers in many centres! I am serious. check it out for yourself

My Kids was with MAVIS ( I seriously would not recommend it) … quite sometime ago, but I get them to quit the classes. It SIMPLY HORRIBLE.

Turns out that my elder kid only master “Dai Dee” (poker) in the class. Instead of improving her weak subjects. The teachers just simply walk in and out constantly, while instructing them to do their own revision. While my younger kid in a different class, can’t understand what the teacher is teaching. The class is simply too noisy, all the students just chit chatting while the teacher just sit at his desk.

(How I know??? I find it too hard to believe when my kids video it down in their handphone… That shows that there is are discipline enforced in classes… and that is how I find out)

I wasted my money and trusted the wrong person for introducing me below standard tuition center

To be frank, as a tutor myself, I have seen countless of tutors and some teachers just teach for the sake of teaching. At times, you hear students say their tutors / teachers would scold them for being stupid etc..
Its hard to find a good tutor nowadays.
Some tuition centres are too profit driven.

James Ong from Kovan branch its ok only, dont mind me saying this but he does not go that extra mile for my son.I personally feel that good tutors are hard to find, unless it’s their own kid :(

Yes. I totally agreed. The student must first have the correct attitude to learn. But it seemed that Mavis tuition centre is not bad. I heard from others who got improvement from Failed Grade F to A1 in his O-Level. They recommend Mr James Ong from the Kovan branch.

Hi Mdm Yip, I think tuition centre can only help those students that are motivated themselves. If your child perform badly, think it’s useless to send them to any other tuition centre, best is to get your child a home tutor. If your child really cant perform, there is nothing those tutors cant do also. They are only human too, not God.

Due to the big class size, they cant give my child too much attention. And I find to give extra lesson only 2 weeks before exams is not enough too. Hope that the centre can improve on that since we are paying so much for the tuition fees.

I have attended the class at Mavis Tuition Centre. They have a big class size. I find the tutors very helpful esp. if you are weaker than other. They will take extra efforts to help us on one-to-one basis. They also give extra lessons for us to catch up, 2 weeks before our exam start.
