Mainspring Learning Centre - Maths Tution
Mainspring Learning Centre teaches maths tution using Sakamoto methods. This tuition centre is located at Sembawang New Town and at the basement of Punggol MRT station. They offer many maths tution classes for students at Primary to Secondary levels. They also have pre-school classes for Nursery, Primary 1 Preparatory Courses and Before & After School Care programmes.
To provide a better environment, all their classrooms are completely air-conditioned and separated with sound-proof partition. This helps to eliminate outside noise from distracting the class during their maths tution sessions. The class size is limited to only 6 to 10 per group, thus students can learn and explore more comfortably.
Only special selected private math tutors are allowed to teach in Mainspring Learning Centre. They must be very enthusiastic & have the passion to impart knowledge to the students. The center has their unique teaching materials such as special maths game, maths practice tests to arouse the students’ interest in the learning. However, they also follow strictly to the syllabus set by Ministry of Education (MOE).
Beside giving maths tution, this agency conduct KidzYoga lesson as well. This kind of yoga techniques helps your child to stimulate the brain and nervous system and to improve memory and concentration. Besides that, It will tend to improve your child’s memory, increase concentration in children and also self-esteem.
You may attend their Sakamoto Parents’ Preview Seminar to know more about the maths tution techniques they are teaching. During the seminar, you can have the opportunity to ask the tutors on questions like how differently is the current maths structure in comparison to the days the parents were taught. You will also get to know how the maths tutor can help to improve your child’s grade solely using their unique method. The teachers will demonstrate the math lesson plans and also let you understand the history and background of this Sakamoto techniques.

I can teach Elementary Mathematic, English language with four fundamental skills, and natural science. My elder son scored A* for Maths after joining Mainspring. Was scoring only 50 after P5 SA1. Sakamoto Method is good (super fast) for solving questions that deal with parts like ratio, fraction & percentage, and Paper 2 problem sums (best with calculator as working numbers can be big using this method). My younger child started in P3 and is now scoring 80 in P4 Maths. However, it is better for child to know more methods and use the best (fastest) method for the specific question. However, if child is poor in Times Table, this method will not be suitable as the working involves a lot of multiplication. It took my child up to 3-4 months to use the method with ease & correctly. Once learned, it is a breeze. Mainspring also let students practise Top School exam papers in addition to Sakamoto workbooks. I would recommend this tuition centre.

I am very disappointed. My son results became worse after signing up their tuition class. They do not follow moe teaching methods and confused my son with theirs.
